How to enhance self-confidence and overcome body image dissatisfaction

Loving one’s life or body can sometimes make people become so self-obsessed that they would start mocking other people for having a different lifestyle or a different body. We all have different choices and different opinions in life which should not be made fun of because it’s extremely important to have your own way of doing things in life. Feeling comfortable in one’s own skin is as important for an individual as oxygen is for a living.

Body shaming and making people especially females dissatisfied with their body has become a trend. Whenever people open their mouth, it puts a women self respect on stake. It gives those who are growing up to be adults the wrong message, that you have the authority to judge others for their physical features and publicly bash them for having a different body than yours.  The reality is that when someone judges physical appearance their selection of terms is either “Good” or “Bad”, which implies that in your opinion looks are more important than what is on the inside. Below are some tips which will surely help you combat this issue effectively.

Get out of the overthinking loop

The first and foremost step which you should take is to deal with this issue psychologically. Break the habit of overthinking, which leads to negative thinking and that leads to anxiety and stress.  

Deliberately replace your negative thoughts with positive ones and train your mind to shrug off all the trash that’s stored in your head.

Escape from the comparison phobia

An NYC Girls Project report suggests that 63% females think the standards of body image which are represented by fashion industry have nothing to do with reality, but they still compare their bodies to those fashion models and feel bad about themselves. You must understand that it’s the requirement of their job. They are required to look in a certain way which is not impossible to achieve but isn’t easy either. For them it’s an occupational necessity, otherwise, they would have also looked normal.

Constantly comparing yourself with such girls is the same as fooling yourself into believing that an office guy should look the same as a bodybuilder.  Looking at girls who lift should only inspire you. Don’t beat yourself up because you look different than those Facebook or Instagram stars and high profile people, who do so much just to get one good click. Follow those inspiring role models who look like you and are extremely successful in different things. Be the best in your own craft.

Know your worth

Appreciating each other is only a basic human decency, which many among us have either forgotten or haven’t even bothered learning. It’s a very common thing with some of us that we take the opinion of those around us very seriously which becomes a great cause of worry later on. Some girls are actually really pretty but are not blessed enough to know this. They will go very harsh on themselves and find excuses to degrade themselves. It is one of the many causes of body image dissatisfaction among females. This should be avoided to terminate the toxicity from your life.
